"You know that the Memorial is April 11 right?"
by stuckinarut2 inah, yes, so mid-way through a conversation about work, a family member just had to say "oh, you know the memorial is tuesday april 11, so i guess you will have to schedule your work so you can make it right?".
i simply said "oh is it?
" and then went back to what we were talking about.. has anyone else had the pressure to attend put on them?.

Greetings, inquiring friends:
It's too painful to explain, in detail, publicly: it concerned the elders' misunderstanding of a legal matter involving me.
I could have stayed but was uninformed about my rights. If I had gone to another memorial, where the Bethel brother gave the talk, I would have been welcomed heartily. However, I would not have known the dismissal was unjustified.
The elders were afraid of something happening similar to what Blondie wrote about, i.e., a "scene."

Several years ago, while a member in good standing, I was asked to leave the Memorial. I was crushed and went home. A brother from Bethel was in attendance at another local KH and, upon learning what had happened, said I was not the one who should have been told to leave.

zeb, smiddy, and bobcat:
Thanks much for your thoughts and questions.
Re "shaken but never stirred," unbridled and unapologetic poetic license! I appreciated Perry's scriptural reminders of what I once firmly believed and felt. Yes, deliberate stair-step formatting (had to choose my words accordingly).
Best Wishes and sweet dreams!

Thank you so very much for what you have shared, allowing my captive self to see beyond -- yet, within -- the confines of the bedarkened night whence I slowly emerge, shaken but never stirred.

It is a bad time to be awake;
I see things I do not wish to see.
I have feelings I do not wish to feel.
If I could return to sleep, the deception
Of sweet slumber would assure that even a
Nightmare might offer an escape, escape from
An awakening cold, black dream where sights and
Feelings burn deep into a fragile soul a garish branding
That strikes terror for an eternity of restless days and nights.

Kindly note the use of hyphens:
Those measures include widening the entirety of a mixed two- and four-lane state highway leading away from Oroville and other communities and doing more to improve public-warning systems.

I probably knew who he was on sight, but the name is not ringing a bell -- at the moment. I certainly know the story you refer to, however.
THANKS!

Compound Where else have I seen that picture it is so familiar. Not on a calendar wasn't around in those days CC
The thought I recall -- legit or not -- was the woman descending into the water was supposedly Damaris; the man baptized, Dionysius; the baptizer, the Apostle Paul.
The image very well could have been used in any one, or several, of the publications. I believe the calendar is circa '70/'71, remembering back to when I worked in the hand bindery.
Damaris was a convert of Paul; the hill in the background is Mars Hill.
